OneStock configuration

OneStock configuration

Configuration

A Shopify X OneStock integration requires specific configurations to ensure both systems work correctly together.

Inventory configuration

The OneStock connector allows a unified inventory view from OneStock to be imported into Shopify.

The connector only impacts the available inventory in Shopify.
If you need additional information about inventory states in Shopify, please refer to the Shopify documentation.

Product-location association prerequisite

Before importing inventory into Shopify, each product must be associated with the target location. If an inventory update is attempted for a product that is not stocked at the specified location, Shopify will reject the request with the following error:

"The specified inventory item is not stocked at the location"

To avoid this, ensure that every product for which you want to import stock at a given location is properly linked to that location in Shopify.

Inventory import scenarios to OneStock

Several configurations are possible depending on how inventory is imported into OneStock:

  • If the system managing inventory imports into OneStock provides sellable stock,
the inventory exported from OneStock to Shopify must not include stock locations reservations.

  • If the system managing inventory imports into OneStock provides physical stock,
the inventory exported from OneStock to Shopify must include stock locations reservations.

Inventory global overview

There are three main systems involved in an inventory integration:

Shopify - what the customer can purchase

  • Available-for-sale inventory

  • Inventory reserved as a result of orders

OneStock - decides where inventory is reserved

  • Available-for-sale inventory

  • Inventory reserved as a result of orders

WMS / Stores - where inventory physically moves

  • Physical inventory

  • Inventory reserved as a result of orders

As shown above, all three systems are capable of managing reserved inventory. It is therefore critical, during the project design phase, to clearly define which system is responsible for each inventory responsibility.

Step 1: Initial synchronization

Inital inventory synchronization
  • Stock is centralised in the WMS/Stores, synchronised with OneStock, and then displayed on Shopify.

Step 2: Order creation and uses cases associated

Workflow configuration

  • To operate your OneStock connector and the Shopify ecosystem, you must follow a specific status graph.
